Born Sept. 11, 1922, in Dover, Ark., son of the late Alce and Annie Mae Ross McAlister, he was a U.S. Army veteran having served in WWII. He attended the Pleasant View General Baptist Church in Risco.
On July 24, 1970, in Malden, Mo., he married Mildred Jackson, who survives.
Survivors also include two daughters, Shirley Christian, of Owensville, Mo., and Jean Brazzle, of Waverly, Tenn.; three brothers, Bob McAlister, of Ripley, Tenn., Ross McAlister, of Flint, Mich., Jack Berry, of Grand Haven, Mich.; two sisters, Dolly Ruby, of Russellville, Ark., and Laura Westfall, of Grand Haven; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Arthur McAlister and two sisters, Georgia Hardin and Florence Glover.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m., Friday, May 19, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 20, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mark Powell officiating.
Burial with military rites will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery at Malden.
