Annie Handley

Rev. Annie Garland Stalcup Handley, 90, of Steele, Mo., died Thursday, May 11, 2006, at her residence.

Born May 18, 1915, in Abbeville, Miss., daughter of the late Edgar and Virgie Stafford Stalcup, she was a minister and a member of the Steele Pentecostal Church of God.

In Yarbro, Ark., she married Roy Handley, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one son, Virgil T. Handley; two brothers, J.T. and Bilbow Stalcup; four sisters, Ollie B. Goodson, Ilene Crosskno, Ruby Stalcup and Edna Stanfill and one grandson, Glen Alan Riggs.

Survivors include one daughter, Annie Louise Riggs and husband, R.B., of Blytheville, Ark.; one son, Edward "Gene" Handley and wife, Charlene, of Gosnell, Ark.; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and 24 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, May 14, at the Pentecostal Church of God in Steele with the Revs. James Baker, James Decanter, Gary Andrews, Sr., and Gary Andrews, Jr. officiating.

Burial was in the Pemiscot Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Caruthersville, Mo.

Powell Funeral Home of Steele was in charge of arrangements.
