Opal Collier

Opal Collier, 81, of Kennett, formerly of Holcomb, Mo., died Monday, May 8, 2006, at National HealthCare in Kennett.

Born May 23, 1924, in Newton County, Ark., she was the daughter of the late Frank and Willie Reynolds Becker.

On Sept. 11, 1943, in Piggott, Ark., she married Jack David Collier, who preceded her in death on March 25, 1971.

She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Joyce and Deloris Collier; one brother, James Becker and one sister, Ruth King.

Survivors include two sons, George Collier and wife, Ann, of Severn, Md., and Tommy Collier and wife, Pat, of Searcy, Ark.; one daughter, Christine Jost and husband, Jerry, of Owasso, Okla.; three brothers, Otto Becker, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Kinnard and Earl Becker, both of Marion, Ind.; three sisters, Ruby Darnell and Evaleen Smallwood, both of Marion and Fayrene Edgmon, of Walnut Creek, Calif.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., today, Friday, May 12, at the Friendship Baptist Church in Kennett with the Rev. Dale Rickman officiating.

Burial was in the Oak Ridge Cemetery at Kennett.

Pallbearers were Joshua and Jonathan Collier, Glen Harris, Johnny Bogle, Tommy Campbell and Ricky Burdin.

McDaniel Funeral Home of Kennett was in charge of arrangements.
