Louise Evans Newman, 76, of Hayti, Mo., died Friday, May 5, 2006, at the Pemiscot Memorial Hospital in Hayti.
Born Sept. 15, 1929, in Tyronza, Ark., daughter of the late Williamand Effie McGowin Evans, she was a cook, homemaker and a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Caruthersville, Mo.
On Feb. 8, 1947, in Piggott, Ark., she married Robert Bertrand Newman, who preceded her in death on April 24, 1976. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Elizabeth Turner; two brothers, J.B., and Junior Evans; two sisters, Connie English and Vera Counce; one grandson, Trey McCulloch and a daughter-in-law, Connie Newman.
Survivors include two sons, Alan Newman and Robert Newman and wife, Teresa, all of Hayti; four daughters, Rose Marie Pelts and husband, Dickie, of Steele, Mo., Mona Yow and husband, Kenny, of Puxico, Mo., Cathy Turner and husband, David, of Hayti and Stephanie Newman, of Antioch, Tenn.; one brother, Leon Evans, of Raytown, Texas; four sisters, Bonita Scott, of Sardis, Tenn., Peggy Stockton, of Advance, Mo., Lois Hildrich, of Poplar Bluff, Mo. and Joyce Starks, of Moberly, Mo.; 10 grandchildren, Wendi Newman and Libby Banks, both of Hayti, Bert McCulloch and Trey and Johnathan Pelts, all of Steele, Julie and Jennifer Pelts, of Kennett, Joseph Davidson, of Antioch, David Allen Turner, of Murray, Ky., and McKenzie Hayes, of Greenville, Mo., and three great-grandsons, Colton McCulloch, Ryder Banks and Gage Swims.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Monday, May 8, at the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel in Hayti with Father Randolph Tochtrop officiating.
Burial was in the Pemiscot Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Hayti.
Pallbearers were grandsons.
