J.W. Gaines, 50, of Parma, Mo., died Tuesday, May 2, 2006, at his residence.

Born Aug. 20, 1955, in Sunflower, Miss., he was the son of Lillie Gaines Lawrence.

Survivors include two sons, James and Emory Gaines, both of Joplin, Mo.; one daughter, Francesca Gaines, of Joplin; his mother, Lillie Gaines Lawrence, of Parma, Mo.; one brother, Earnest Gaines, of Malden, Mo., and five sisters, Georgia Gaines and Bertha Sledge, both of Parma, Victoria Johnson, of O'Fallon, Mo., Shirley Gaines, of New Madrid, Mo., and Nancy Hart, of Burlington, Iowa.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 5, in the Macedonia Cemetery at Malden with the Rev. Floyd Wade officiating.

Bradshaw Funeral Home of Malden is in charge of arrangements.
