Born in Kennett, Mo., he was Pastor of Sherwood Park Baptist Church, a member of The Chapel in Green, the Summit Baptist Association, Chaplain of VFW Post in Kenmore, Kenmore Board of Trade, and on the Board of Directors at Greenlawn Memorial Park. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran having served during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn; his children, Rev. Dale Smith, Jr. and wife, Marilyn, Karen Eriksen and husband, Jack and Keith Smith and wife, Melissa; one brother, Hoyt Smith and wife, Sandy; one sister, JoNell Norman and grandchildren, Tamika, Dustin, Brandon, Kelly, Monica, Nickoli, James O'Brien, and Daisy.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 25, at the Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Funeral Home in Akron with the Rev. Dale O. Smith, Jr., Pastor Charles Whitlock, Rev. Don Davies, Rev. Larry Baldridge, and Rev. Eloy Pacheco officiating.
Burial with military services were held in Greenlawn Memorial Park at Akron.
