Opal Beggs, 84, of Paragould, Ark., formerly of Cardwell, Mo., and Rector, Ark., died Saturday, April 29, 2006, at Greene Acres Nursing Home in Paragould.
Born May 12, 1921, in Gun Town, Miss., daughter of the late J.O. "Jim" and Lona Whitaker Bell, she attended Arkansas State University. She was a homemaker and attended Antioch Church of Christ and Fifth and Pine Church of Christ.
She married Delbert Beggs, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by two bothers, Junior and Billy Bell.
Survivors include one son, J.R. "Dick" Beggs and wife, Jean, of Paragould; two daughters, Sharon Beggs Jackson Holcomb and husband, Bill and Lisa Beggs Gipson and husband David, all of Paragould; one sister, Carol Awbrey, of San Antonio, Texas; four grandchildren, Richey and Tony Beggs, Cheryl Beggs Freeman and Jay Gipson and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 2, at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel in Paragould with Ken Roden officiating.
Burial was in the Cardwell Cemetery.
Pallbearers were grandsons, great-grandsons and sons-in-law.
Honorary pallbearers were Norman Jameson, Arvel Pratt and Chestene Loyd.
