Zada Akers, 87, of Kennett, died Wednesday, April 26, 2006, at the Baptist Hospital in Collierville, Tenn.
Born Sept. 5, 1918, in Caraway, Ark., daughter of the late Edward and Evelyn Jimerson Hillhouse, she was a member of the Westside Church of Christ.
On Aug. 4, 1936, in Kennett, she married Doyle "Bud" Akers, who preceded her in death on Oct. 11, 1971. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Preston Hillhouse and four sisters, Mirl Warren, Josie Hillhouse, Isa Ray and Opal Gabryluck.
Survivors include one son, Bob Akers and wife, Jill, of Collierville; one daughter, Barbara Sue Rhodes, of Bella Vista, Ark.; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., today, Friday, April 28, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 29, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with Dwight Harrison and Wesley Key officiating.
Burial will follow in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Kennett.
Pallbearers are Tommy Samples, Ken Emfinger, Myrl Frederick, Jim Hackworth, Tolliver Brown and Robert Powell.
Honorary pallbearers are Brad Benson, Willie Green and Russell Freeman.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Church of Christ.
