Born Dec. 15, 1935 at Cumberland, Miss., a son of the late James Willis and Samantha Catherine Dotson Holmes, he served in the U.S. Army and was Jr. Vice Commander of the VFW Post in Paragould.
On Dec. 27, 1956 he married Bonnie Jean Bell who preceded him in death March 13, 1988.
Survivors include three daughters Vonnie (Poore) Holmes of Paragould, Kimberly Wright of Marmaduke, Ark. and Lisa Smith of Paragould; one brother, Ernest Riley Holmes of Kennett; one sister, Jewel Dean Milan of Kennett; a half-sister, Rosie Meherg of Jonesboro, Ark.; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Martha Clark; a half-brother, James Homes; two half-sisters, Lucille Palmer and Bertie Avery; and two grandchildren, Stephanie Ann Wright and Joshua Adam Weaver.
Visitation is 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Sunday, April 23, at McDaniel funeral chapel in Kennett.
Funeral services are 3:30 p.m. Monday, April 24, at the McDaniel chapel.
Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery at Kennett.
Pallbearers are Steve Wright, Marvin Smith, Steven Abbott, Michael Harris, Nathan Warren and Bobby Baskins.
