William Edward Asakevich, 72, of Senath, Mo., died Sunday, April 16, 2006, at the VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
Born May 4, 1933, in Wheeling, W.Va., son of the late William John and Mary Marie Ferner Asakevich, he was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Korean War, where he received the Purple Heart.
On Feb. 3, 1953, in Bay City, Mich., he married Darlene J. Compo, who survives.
Survivors also include three sons, William James Asakevich, of Dalton, Mich., and Peter Allen and Lee Roy Asakevich, both of Portage, Mich.; five daughters, Rita Mae Boball, of Delton, Mary Ann Cope, of West Helena, Ark., Doreen June Asakevich, of Three Rivers, Mich., Tina Marie Rak, of Chicago, Ill., and Michelle Lynn Hufford, of Senath; two brothers, John Asakevich, of Rhodes, Mich., and Robert Asakevich, of Mountain View, Ark.; one sister, Beverly Kubasiak, of Pinconning, Mich.; 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, April 19, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Senath.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 20, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Lavonne Smart officiating.
