Rudolph S. "Sonny" Roach, 59, of Portageville, Mo., died Saturday, April 1, 2006, at Jonesboro, Ark.

Born Jan. 31, 1947, in Fries, Va., son of the late Dortha Roach Kirk, he was a U.S. Army veteran, and a truck driver.

On Oct. 3, 1987, in Huntsville, Ala., he married Mamie Sue Wages, who survives.

Survivors also include two sons, Rudolph S. Roach, Jr., and wife, Jennifer, of Willis, Va., and Tony Howell, of Erie, Pa.; one brother, Russell Lee Roach, of Fries; seven grandchildren, Valerie Barker, of Austinsville, Va., Michael Barker, of Floyd, Va., Brittany Suzanne Roach, of Kennesaw, Ga., Brittani and Brandi Stoneman, of Galax, Va., Samuel Barker, of Willis, Va., and Destiny England, of Galax, Va., and two great-grandchildren, Kaileigh Barker, of Bristol, Tenn., and Shaune Carpenter, of Willis.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 5, at the Water of Life Church at Howardville, Mo. with Pastor Phyllis Traughber officiating.

Burial was in the Mounds Park Cemetery at Lilbourn, Mo.

Pallbearers were family members.

John W. German Funeral Home in Hayti was in charge of arrangements.
