Mary Maglene Howard

Mary Maglene Howard, 76, died Tuesday, March 28, 2006, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Nashville, Tenn.

Born Dec. 17, 1929, at Lexington, Ky., a daughter of the late Clarence and Odie Mae Maness Smothers, she attended school at Cooter, Mo., and was of the Pentecostal faith.

On March 28, 1946, at Corinth, Miss., she married Jim D. Howard who preceded her in death Nov. 27, 2003.

Survivors include one daughter, Janet Horton and husband, Jerry, of Lexington, Tenn.; one brother, Paul Smothers of Valdosta, Ga., three grandchildren, David Middleton of Nashville, Tenn., Michelle Lanier and Melissa Middleton, of Caruthersville, Mo.; six great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Funeral services were 2 p.m. Friday, March 31, at H.S. Smith Funeral Home of Caruthersville with Jerry Horton officiating.

Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery at Steele, Mo.

Pallbearers were members of the family.
