Sarah Lee Payne, 78, of Ft. Myers, Fla., formerly of Malden, Mo., died Friday, March 31, 2006 at her home.

She was born March 5, 1928 at Malden. She was a 1945 graduate of Malden High School, a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 293, a VFW associate member and was retired in 1990 from Federal Mogul at Malden.

She married James E. Payne who preceded in death. She was also preceded in death by her mother, Mary Elizabeth Corder George and step-father, J.L. George.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Lee Payne Dimler of Estero, Fla., and Linda Belle Payne Bennett and husband, Jack, of Ft. Myers; and one cousin Marylin Corder Cowgill of Malden.

Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 4, at Landess Funeral Home.

Funeral services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Landess Chapel with Dr. Bill Jackson officiating.

Burial will be in Park Cemetery at Malden.
