Born Aug. 26, 1936, in Jonesboro, Ark., son of the late Frank P. Sr., and Vada Lou Ferguson Carter, he was a U.S. Marine veteran, having served in the Korean War and a member of the Kennett VFW.
On Aug. 24, 1959, he married Mary Lee Davis, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include two sons, Brett Carter, of Amelia Island, Fla., and Bart Carter and wife, Paula, of Kennett; one brother, Frank P. Carter, of Kennett; Jeanne Winkler, of Kennett; two grandchildren, Tyler and Katie Carter and a special friend, Tip Fisher.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Monday, March 27, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Ed Jansson officiating.
Burial was in the Oak Ridge Cemetery at Kennett.
Pallbearers were James Jingo Cole, Wiley Tucker, Earl Spencer, Larry Gibson, L.C. Cuff and Jim Toombs.
Honorary pallbearers were Rick Jones, Cecil Vavak, Bob Freeman, Don and Corky Davis, Bill Clevenger, Larry Gatewood, Dave Tippen, Jeff Wade, George Workman, Paul Hutchinson and Herman Evans.
