Mattie Van Barnes, 92, of Tupelo, Mississippi, formerly of the Micola, Missouri and Steele, Missouri communities, died Thursday, March 23, 2006, at The Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, Mississippi.
Born February 14, 1914 in Wardell, Missouri, she was the daughter of the late Van and Ada Watkins of Wardell, Missouri.
She was married to the late Lawrence Barnes.
Survivors include three daughters, Cathryn Wilson and husband, Harold, Kay Martin and husband, Eddie, and Jean Kellems and husband, Tom Elmore, all of Tupelo, Mississippi, six grandchildren, Paula and Kelly Prather of Germantown, Tennessee, Brent and Meredith Martin of Tupelo, Mississippi, Krissa and Bart Tittle, of Oxford, Mississippi, Ken and Missy Wilson of Tupelo, Mississippi, Mara and John Ladner of Pass Christian, Mississippi, and Jana and Ben Eakes of Tupelo, Mississippi, 10 great-grandchildren, one sister, Vestal "Aunt Bug" Wilson of Sikeston, Missouri, one sister-in-law, and Viola Watkins of Germantown, Tennessee.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday, March 26, 2006, at the John W. German Funeral Home in Steele, Missouri.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 27, 2006 at The First Baptist Church in Steele, Missouri, with the Dr. Bryant Barnes officiating and special music by Larry Ray.
Burial will follow at the Mt. Zion Cemetery at Steele, Missouri.
