Hazel Dean Buie, 76, of the Hayward Community, died Monday, March 20, 2006, at her residence.
Born Sept. 1, 1929, in Atkins, Ark., daughter of the late Hubert and Jewel Abbott McVay, she was a homemaker.
In 1955, in Caruthersville, Mo., she married Roy Buie, who preceded her in death on March 15, 1985. She was also preceded in death by one son, Paul Kirby; one brother, Hubert McVay and two sisters, Mattie Ferguson and Melba Melton.
Survivors include six children, Linda Little and husband, Ben, of Marble Hill, Mo., Rickey Buie, Sharon Ricketts and husband, Joe and Tonya Hubbard, all of Portageville, Mo., and Judy Blake and husband, Tom and Terry Ricketts and husband, Randy, all of Wardell, Mo.; two brothers, Jimmy McVay and wife, Ruth, of Steele, Mo., and Jerry McVay and wife, Carolyn, of Florida; two sisters, Shirley Williams and husband, Mike, of O'Fallon, Mo., and Donna Self and husband, John, of High Ridge, Mo.; 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., today, Thursday, March 23, at the Victory Refuge Unity Church in Portageville with the Rev. Charlie Thacker officiating.
Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery at Hayti, Mo.
Pallbearers were Joey Ricketts, Billy Northern, Bryan Noble, Jimmy McVay, Wesley Patterson and Rick Copeland.
John W. German Funeral Home of Hayti was in charge of arrangements.
