Bennie McFerrin, 75, of Hayti, Mo., died Wednesday, March 1, 2006, at Pemiscot Memorial Hospital in Hayti.
Born August 6, 1930, in Turrell, Ark., son of the late John and Veola Randolph McFerrin, he was a steel worker for Inland Steel in Gary, In., until he retired.
In 1948, he married Ollie Mae Abbott. From this marriage were three children; Barbara McFerrin, of Norcross, Ga., Bennie McFerrin, Jr. and his wife Mary, of Hayti, Mo.; in a marriage to his second wife Margaret Jeffrey, who is now deceased, came 11 children; Jeanette McFerrin, of Fayetteville, N.C., Jerry McFerrin, of Michigan, Linda and Patricia McFerrin, both of East Chicago, In., Annette McFerrin, of Norcross, Ga., Tevis Douglas and husband Paris, of Gary, In., Trudy Taylor and husband Bernard, of Lawrenceville, Ga., Tommie McFerrin, of Gary, In., Stephanie McFerrin, of Norcross, Mary Ann McFerrin, of Gary, In., Bernie Baker and husband Steve, of Indianapolis, In., Morris McFerrin, of Gary, In., Barbara Ann McFerrin, of East Chicago, In.; four brothers, James, Herman, Clarence and Eddie McFerrin; three sisters, Veola Battle, Ernestine Williams and Emma Mae; 54 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Later he was reunited in marriage to his first wife Ollie, who survives the home .
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, March 7, at the Faith Temple Church of God of Christ in Hayti, with REv. Tommy Lee Allen officiating. Burial was at the Potageville Cemetary.
