Bettye Jo Renfro, 59, of Gulfport, Miss., died Monday, Jan. 2, 2006, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, Wiser Women's and Children's Hospital in Jackson, Miss.
Born Oct. 29, 1946, in Brookhaven, Miss., daughter of the late Beatrice Taylor, she was a 1965 graduate of Alexander High School, a graduate of Abilene Christian University, where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in elementary education and she later received her master's degree from Southeast Missouri State. She taught school in Kennett and was teaching at Gulfport High School.
Survivors include one son, Scote Renfro, of Gulfport; four brothers, Willie Chisom and wife, Patricia, of Milwaukee, Wis., Glenn Rufus and wife, Emma, of Brookhaven, Miss., Michael Taylor, of Natchez, Miss., and Harry Taylor, of Gulfport; five sisters, Barbara Chisholm, of Santa Rosa, Calif., Maggie Brooks and husband, James, of Jackson, Miss., Patricia Brown, Audrey Wilson and Luatrice Taylor, all of Brookhaven and three grandsons, Cody Rice, of Brookhaven and Christin Scote Renfro and Blake Palmer, both of Gulfport.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 7, at the Center Street Church of Christ in Brookhaven.
