Ruth Alma Speakes, 87, of Benton Harbor, MI, formerly of Cardwell, Mo., died Sunday, Feb. 26, 2006.

Born on Aug. 22, 1918, in Boynton, Ark., daughter of the late Liller & Richard Dollar, she was a member of the Forest Grove Baptist Church in Cardwell, and after moving back to Michigan, she was a member of the St. Paul's Episcopal Church in St. Joseph. She was a member of the Red Hat's Society.

On November 3, 1934, she married Albert Speakes, who preceded her in death on Aug. 17, 1989. She was also preceded in death by one son, Richard; four brothers, Floyd, Elmer "Bud", Paul and Howard "Gene" Dollar and four sisters, Nadine, Elois, Willerdine and Dorothy.

Survivors include one son, Ronald; one daughter, Dorethy; three grandchildren, Michael, of Arizona, Ronnie, of Georgia and Ingrid, of Germany and three great-grandchildren, Meghan and Zachary, of Arizona and Stefan, of Germany.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., Thursday, March 2, at the Heath Funeral Home, in Paragould, AR.

Burial will follow at Cockrum Cemetery in Cardwell, Missouri.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Berrien County or the American Red Cross.
