Calvin Gene Thornton, 62, of Malden, Mo., died Friday, Feb. 24, 2006, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Born July 15, 1943, in Essex, Mo., he was the son of the late McKinley and Julia Williams Thornton.
Survivors include three sons, Earnest Martin, of Detroit, Mich., Lamario Purdy, of Milwaukee, Wis., and Michael Gorden, of Elkhart, Ind.; three daughters, Pamela Mathis and Tina Thornton, both of Milwaukee and Shelly Gorden, of Malden; companion, Elaine Gorden, of Malden; six brothers, Bob Ayers, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Clarence Ayers and Bobby Thornton, both of Malden, Jake Ayers, of Miami, Fla., Perry Thornton, of Essex and Jessie Thornton, of Sikeston, Mo.; two sisters, Betty Harris, of Elkhart and Mary Underwood, of Malden and 21 grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Friday, March 3, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 4, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with Elder James Fair officiating.
Burial will follow in the Macedonia Cemetery at Malden.
