Nadine Byrd, 87, of Kennett, Mo., formerly of Holcomb, Mo., died Thursday, Feb. 23, 2006, at National Health Care in Kennett, Mo.
Born July 19, 1918, at Holcomb, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Evertt Sydney "Ed" and Martha Loyd Vancil. She was a member of the Varner River Baptist Church since 1950. She was the postmaster at White Oak, Mo. for 38 years.
On December 6, 1936, she married the late Marvin Vernell Byrd, in Hickman, Kent.
Survivors include two sons, "Van" Marvin Vancil Byrd and wife, Glenda, of White Oak, Mo. and "Eddie" Everett Andrew Byrd and wife, Dawn, of Cordova, Tenn., one daughter, Anita Beth Blackmon and husband, Jim, of Kennett, Mo., and one sister-in-law, Marietta Vancil of Holcomb, Mo., and three grandchildren, Cindy Chance, Melissa Byrd, and Sara Beth Byrd.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Sidney Vancil, and one sister, Maxine Shanight.
Visitation was at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2006, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett, Mo.
Funeral services were at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 26 at the McDaniel Chapel in Kennett, Mo. with the Rev. Dale Rickman officiating.
Burial was at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Kennett, Mo.
Pallbearers included Dustin Mike Jarrett, Brad Carter, Bart Chance, Keith Vancil, and Charlie Rollins.
