Peggy Downing Stewart, 80, of Campbell, Mo., died Thursday, Feb. 23, 2006, at Piggott Community Hospital in Piggott, Ark.
Born Aug. 13, 1925, in Caruthersville, Mo., daughter of the late Joseph and Willie Sexton Downing, she was a school teacher. She was a member of the Missouri Retired Teachers Association, the Campbell United Methodist Church, Campbell Federated Garden Club and the Campbell Chapter No. 92 of the Order of the Eastern Star.
On Dec. 26, 1948, in Manila, Ark., she married Bryant F. Stewart, Jr., who survives. Survivors also include one son, Bryant F. Stewart, III, of Campbell; one daughter, Jean F. Cherry and husband, J.D., of Corning, Ark.; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26, at the Landess Funeral Home in Campbell.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Stella Turner officiating.
Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery at Blytheville, Ark.
