Deacon Freddie Lee Bell, Sr., 95, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Saturday, Feb. 11, 2006, at Pemiscot Memorial Health Systems in Hayti, Mo.
Born Dec. 24, 1910, in Hartity, Miss., son of the late Robert and Malissie Bell, he was a member of the 12th Street Baptist Church.
On Dec. 5, 1931, in Greenwood, Miss., he married Mary Lee Brown, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by three sons, Freddie Bell, Jr., Sammie Lee Bell and Tommy Lee Bell and one brother.
Survivors include three sons, Jessie Lee, Phedentry and Henry Bell, all of Caruthersville; five daughters, Annie Lee Prather, Willie Mae Taylor, Malissie Harris and Martha Driver, all of Caruthersville and Mary Ann Tyner, of Gathersburg, Md., 45 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at the 12th Street Missionary Baptist Church in Caruthersville with the Rev. J.T. Spicer officiating.
Burial was in the Morgan Ridge Cemetery at Caruthersville.
Pallbearers were Ricky Harris, Willie Prather, Arthur Harris, Terry Taylor, Alphonso Prather and Lamonte Bell.
Honorary pallbearers were Jessie, Phedentry, Henry, Bennie, Tyree and Walter Bell.
H.S. Smith Funeral Home of Caruthersville was in charge of arrangements.
