Betty Brent

Born April 4, 1919, in Wardell, daughter of the late Joseph Oliver and Maggie Hinshaw Check, she was employed at Brown Shoe Factory and was a member of the Living Word Tabernacle of Gibson.

She married Louie Brent, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Arlie Joe "Butch" Conoy and Eddie Connor Brent; an infant daughter, Joyce Ann Conoy; one brother, Rob Check; one sister, Odell Check Leatherwood and Ethel Arlie Check.

Survivors include one son, Sammy Conoy, of Wardell; four daughters, Sarah Ruth Barymond, of Mammoth springs, Ark., Janie Miller and Eula Mae Barker Thorton, both of Wardell and Sheila Skinner, of Portageville, Mo.; one brother, Junior Creasey, of Cahokia, Ill.; four sisters, Mendora Turner, of Wardell, Ollie Joe Friles, of Thayer, Mo., Dollie Friles, of Springfield, Mo., and Louella Downing, of Gideon, Mo.; 18 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at 5:30 p.m. today, Tuesday, Feb. 21, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Wardell.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with Bill Ivey officiating.

Burial will follow in the Wardell Memorial Cemetery.
