Opal Gabryluk

Opal L. Gabryluk, 90, of Amsterdam, N.Y., formerly of Kennett, died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2006, at her residence.

Born in Monette, Ark., daughter of the late Edward and Mary Jimison Hillhouse, she was a graduate of Kennett High School and Poplar Bluff Business School in Poplar Bluff, Mo. She was a member of the Amsterdam Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and attended the First Baptist Church in Amsterdam.

On Oct. 14, 1943, she married Joseph A. Gabryluk, who preceded her in death in 1978. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Preston Hillhouse and three sisters, Mirl Warren, Mary Lou Rhea and Jose Hillhouse.

Survivors include one daughter, Lynette Gabryluk, of Amsterdam and one sister, Zada Akers, of Kennett.

A memorial service was held at noon, Thursday, Jan. 26, at the First Baptist Church in Amsterdam.

Donations may be made to the First Baptist Church, 479 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, N.Y. 12010, Hospice of Amsterdam, 246 Manny Corners Road, Amsterdam, N.Y., or to Home Health Care Partners, 1830 Riverfront Center, Amsterdam, N.Y. 12010.

White-Van Buren Funeral Home of Delanson, N.Y. was in charge of arrangements.
