Born Aug. 29, 1918, in Trenton, Tenn., son of the late Charles and Mae Echols Malone, he was a U.S. Army veteran and an employee of Gaither Furniture in Caruthersville, Mo. He was a member of the Missouri Street Church of Christ in West Memphis and a former member of the American Legion in Caruthersville.
On May 27, 1939, in Caruthersville, he married Mabel C. Maners, who preceded him in death on June 24, 1987. He later married Ruby Neal Hartsell on March 3, 1989, in West Memphis, who survives.
Survivors also include three sons, Charles Malone, of Cherokee Village, Ark., and Jackie and Michael Malone, both of Marion, Ark.; one step-son, Clarence A. Guin, of West Memphis; three daughters, Patricia Rogers, of Gosnell, Ark., Brenda Waller, of Marion and Susan Malone, of West Memphis; one step-daughter, Doris Bridges, of West Memphis; three brothers, Mack Malone, of Michie, Tenn., Joe Malone, of Ramer, Tenn., and Larry Malone, of Bethel Springs, Tenn.; five sisters, Sue Crockett, Edna Lux, Nita McCoy and Barbara Bryant, all of Caruthersville and Peg Averett, of Kennett; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, James Charles "Bud" Malone and one sister, Jennie Blankenship.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, at the Central Church of Christ in Caruthersville with Bill Wheeler and Michael Cox officiating.
Burial was in the Maple Cemetery at Caruthersville.
Pallbearers were Greg and Jeff Rogers, Brian, Ben and Josh Malone and Kyle Waller.
Honorary pallbearers were Kevin Malone, Joey Rogers, Joshua Adkerson, Paul George, Leslie Mote and Mike Mizer.
H.S. Smith Funeral Home of Caruthersville was in charge of arrangements.
