Rose Ann Johnson, 79, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006, at her residence.
Born Dec. 11, 1926, in Engelbert, Ark., daughter of the late Benedict Henry and Theresa Helen Stimel Cecil, she attended school in O'Fallon and Cape Girardeau, Mo., and was employed at Brown Shoe Company. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, international chairperson of the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women, president of the Women's Club and an RSVP volunteer.
On Oct. 2, 1947, in Portageville, Mo., she married James O. Johnson, who preceded her in death on Dec. 16, 1984.
Survivors include three daughters, Cecelia Johnson Davis and husband, Murray, of Somerville, Tenn., Frances Johnson Hubbard and husband, Tracy, of Jefferson City, Mo., and Henrietta Johnson Lutes and husband, Ron, of St. Charles, Mo.; four brothers, Fred and Ed Cecil, both of Caruthersville, Harold Cecil, of Lexington, Ky., and Raymond Cecil, of Sparta, Ill.; three sisters, Helen Cecil Fowler, of Portageville, Mary Madeline Cecil Moody, of Houston, Texas and Sue Cecil Denton, of St. Peters, Mo., and five grandchildren, Cliff Davis, Jr., Joshua Hubbard, and Andrea, Jennifer and Matt Lutes.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, at the Sacred Heart Church in Caruthersville with Father Randy Tochtrop officiating.
Burial was in the Pemiscot Memorial Gardens at Caruthersville.
Pallbearers were Gene Fowler, Anthony Cecil, Matt Lutes, Josh Hubbard, Bill Denton, Cliff Davis, Charlie Cecil and Eugene Cecil.
H.S. Smith Funeral Home of Caruthersville was in charge of arrangements.
