Juanita Short, 80, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2006, at her residence.

Born Feb. 8, 1925, in Memphis, Tenn., daughter of the late Alexander and Irene Proctor Harris, she was associated with the 12th Street Missionary Baptist of Caruthersville and a member of Eastern Star.

On Dec. 21, 1962, in Caruthersville, she married Willie Short, who preceded her in death in 1987.

Survivors include two daughters, Alfreida Burns and Francena Greene, both of Detroit, Mich.; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held at noon Wednesday, Jan. 18, at the Morgan Ridge Cemetery in Caruthersville with Avon Raczkowski officiating.

H.S. Smith Funeral Home of Caruthersville was in charge of arrangements.
