Alva Kirk

Alva Mae Kirk, 88, of Marston, Mo., died Monday, Jan. 16, 2005, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Mo.

Born June 6, 1917, in Morehouse, Mo., daughter of the late Clarence Leroy and Lillie Mae Lewis Mims, she was a member of the Pentecostal Church in Marston.

In 1936, she married Cecil Clinton Kirk, who preceded her in death on Aug. 21, 1980. She was also preceded in death by one son, Clinton Cecil Kirk; one sister, Zeda Acord and four brothers, Dale, David, Alfred and Everett Mims.

Survivors include two sons, George Kirk, of Caseyville, Ill., and Bob Kirk, of Marston; two daughters, Pauline Cook, of Marston and Geraldine Cook, of Granite City, Ill.; five brothers, Harold Mims, of Hernando, Miss., Raymond Mims, of St. Louis, Mo., Leslie Mims, of Dexter, Mo., and Wesley and Jerry Mims, both of Kokomo, Ind., one sister, Ethel Rudd, of Kokomo; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. today, Wednesday, Jan. 18, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden, Mo.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Frank Townsend officiating.

Burial will follow at the Portageville, Mo. Cemetery.
