Born Aug. 9, 1931, in Maryville, Kan., son of Fred and Gene Benedict, he was a graduate of Cheyenne High School and Colorado A & M. He joined the Wyoming National Guard and was activated during the Korean War. Benedict was employed at United Airlines and Uniroyal in Kennett and Standard Products Co. in Goldsboro, Ala. He was a scoutmaster and supported United Way and other charities.
In 1953, he married Marty Cordiner, who survives.
Survivors also include three children, Linda Marks and husband, Bob, of Festus, Mo., Lee Farris, of Memphis, Tenn., and Rick Benedict and wife, Maureen, of Forest, Va., and six grandchildren, Dustin and Flynn Marks, Christine and Emily Farris and Mallory and Kathryn Benedict.
He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Jennifer Marks.
A private burial will be held at a later date.
