Born Oct. 31, 1921, in White Oak, Mo., son of the late Alford Lee and Mary Ellen Limbaugh Loyd, he was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in WWII. He was employed at Wonder Bread and Malden Wholesale Foods and was a member of the Southside Baptist Church in Kennett.
On Oct. 13, 1940, in New Madrid, Mo., he married Daisy Maxine Akers, who preceded him in death on Dec. 26, 1995. He later married Aileen Godsey on June 28, 1996 in Piggott, Ark., who survives.
Survivors also include two sons, Donald Ray Loyd, of Broseley, Mo., and Dennis Ralph Loyd, of Campbell, Mo.; two daughters, Barbara Winberry and Bonnie Mitchem, both of Malden; 10 step-children, Pat and Jean Jones and Jerry Godsey, all of Kennett, Donald Ray Godsey, of Las Vegas, Nev., Katy Mathias, of California, Dinana Purser, of Nashville, Tenn., Shirley Hooker, of Caruthersville, Mo., Brenda Banks, of Greenville, Mo., Harold Hicks, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Kenny Godsey, of Dyersburg, Tenn.; three sisters, Sybil Moore, of Sparta, Ill., and Jo Alice Vinson and Eva Mae Ledford, both of Campbell; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Judy Loyd; two brothers, Earl and Earnest Loyd and one great-granddaughter, Heather Warren.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Tuesday, Dec. 13, at the Landess Funeral Home in Campbell.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. David Phillips and V.J. Brooks officiating.
Burial will follow at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Campbell.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
