Maerene Massey Battles, 86, of Holcomb, Mo., died Sunday, Dec. 4, 2005, at National HealthCare in Kennett.

Born Nov. 10, 1919, in Holcomb, daughter of the late Tom and Dora Pritchard Massey, she was a member of the Holcomb United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.

She married Wallace Battles, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one brother, J.T. Massey; one sister, Gladys Ellis and one grandchild, Brian Skidmore.

Survivors include one son, Billy Skidmore and wife, Helga, of St. Charles, Mo.; five daughters, Sharon Harmon and husband, Tom, and Gayle Mitchell, all of Kennett, Alice Gibson and husband, Lonnie Sr., of Arbyrd, Mo., Juanita Battles and husband, Gary, of Garland, Texas and Jan Richardson, of Branson, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; six nephews and two nieces.

Funeral services were held at 3:30 p.m. today, Wednesday, Dec. 7, at the Holcomb United Methodist Church with the Rev. Barron Miller officiating.

Burial was in the Stanfield Cemetery at Clarkton, Mo.

Pallbearers were Brandon Wallace, Junior Gibson, Tim Harmon, Tom Harmon, Lanny Watson and Stephen McCallister.

Honorary pallbearers were J.H. Dye, Don Watson, Bob Dement and J.B. Robertson.

McDaniel Funeral Home of Kennett was in charge of arrangements.
