Born to the late Frank Arthur and Bertha Brooks Miller, he was a U.S. Army veteran and in the National Guard, having served in the Pacific Campaign and the occupation of Japan during WWII. He was a former plantation manager and retired from Turner Industries. He was a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Amateur Radio, the Old Old Timers Club and the NRA.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie E. Miller, of Maringouin; one daughter, Catherine Wright and husband, James, of Lakeland, Fla.; three sons, David A. Miller and wife, Karen C., of New Roads, La., Stephen L. Miller and wife, Barbara, of Port Allen, La., and James E. Miller and wife, Kimm E., of Prairieville. La.; three sisters, Dorothy "Dot" Reeder, of Little Rock, Ark., Barbara Jones, of Amarillo, Texas and Janis Kay Miller, of San Diego, Calif.; one brother, Gary Don Miller, of St. Louis, Mo.; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Robert Dale Miller; five brothers, Edward, Harold, James (Hot), Charles and Jackie Miller and one sister, Martha Ann Walls.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, and Thursday, Dec. 8 from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Niland Funeral Home-Livonia
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, at the Niland's Funeral Home-Livonia with Deacon Sammy Collura officiating.
Burial will follow at the Rosedale Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be children and grandchildren.
