Born April 4, 1921, in Pemiscot County, Mo., son of the late Amos H. and Auburn Allie Davidson Pery, he was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in WWII and was owner/operator of Planters Implement Company. He was a Mason, member of the Eastern Star, member of the Hayti Lions Club and a member of the Hayti First United Methodist Church.
On May 20, 1944, in Blytheville, Ark., he married Marion Davis, who preceded him in death on June 3, 1970. He later married Mary Achten on April 9, 1971, in Portageville, Mo. She preceded him in death on May 31, 2004. He was also preceded in death by two sons, Danny and Glen Curtis Pery.
Survivors include one son, Clint Pery, of Hayti; one daughter, Shannon Lynn Pery Cline, of Bragg City, Mo.; one step-daughter, Alicia Ruth Atchten Krieck, of Hillsboro, Ore.; two brothers, James Pery, of Steele, Mo., and Harold Pery and wife, Juanita, of Caruthersville, Mo.; six grandchildren, Jason Kendell Pery, of Finley, Tenn., Laura Burkeen, of Sikeston, Mo., Patrick Dylan Pery, of Caruthersville, McKenzie Pery, of Decaturville, Tenn., and Bradley Christopher and Justin Blake Cline, both of Hayti and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, at the First United Methodist Church in Hayti with the Rev. Sue Cubbage officiating.
Burial was full military honors was held in the Maple Cemetery at Caruthersville.
Pallbearers were Jason and Patrick Pery, Mike Clark, Ronnie Bunn, P.J. Glass and Bradley Cline.
John W. German Funeral Home of Hayti was in charge of arrangements.
