Lola Irene Benton, 95, of Broseley, Mo., died Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2005, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
Born Oct. 17, 1910, in Piggott, Ark., daughter of the late William Cosey and Nancy Catherine Rodery Hefner, she was a homemaker. She attended Brown's Chapel General Baptist Church in Broseley.
On Oct. 22, 1927, in Piggott, she married Newton Snell "Doc" Benton, who preceded her in death on April 5, 2000. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Virginia Benton; one sister, Ruby Benton and five brothers, Henry, Leo, Verna, Obrey and Lloyd Hefner.
Survivors include one son, Sonny Benton, of Broseley; four daughters, Joyce Brown, of Poplar Bluff, Linda Gulledge, of St. Louis, Mo., Peggy Speer, of Belton, Mo., and Judy Brown, of Waynesville, Mo.; two brothers, Dallas Hefner, of Qulin and Cleattus Hefner, of Poplar Bluff; nine grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Friday, Nov. 4, at the Landess Funeral Home in Campbell.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow at the Gravel Hill Cemetery in St. Francis, Ark.
Pallbearers will be Steve and Jamon Brown, Rick and Mike Wright, Douglas Gulledge, Steve Benton and Shannon Speer.
