Bill Shelby, 79, of Wardell, Mo., died Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2005, at the Baptist Hospital East in Memphis, Tenn.
Born May 9, 1926, in Marmaduke, Ark., he was owner/operator of Broadway Music Company. He was a member of the Tucker Street Church in Dyersburg, Tenn., a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 461, the Eagles Club and he started the local Vikings Club.
On June 10, 1978, in Fairdealing, Mo., he married Barbara Cagle, who survives.
Survivors also include three daughters, Peggy Lindsey, of California, Rena Ragins, of Pascola, Mo., and Samantha Westerman, of Summer Point, N.J.; two sons, Bill Shelby Jr., of California and Preston Shelby, of Kennett; one step-son, Billy Riddle, of Wardell; 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Darnell; one great-grandson, Mitchum Moody and one sister, Billie Jean.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, at the Jesus Name Tabernacle in Caruthersville, Mo. with Howard Fike officiating.
Burial was in the Maple Cemetery at Caruthersville.
Pallbearers were E.F. Goodrum, Andrew Johnson, Mark Rushing, Cecil Dale Jones, Steve Rogers and Scott Hamlett.
Honorary pallbearers were Billy Dodd and Lanny Young.
H.S. Smith Funeral Home of Caruthersville was in charge of arrangements.
