The award is given to recognize outstanding achievement in appellate practice by members of the Missouri Bar. The award is named after the late judge David J. Dixon, whose tenacity, professionalism and judicial skills epitomize outstanding appellate practice.
Young is a sole practitioner in private general law practice in Portageville, Mo., practicing in both state and federal courts. Young graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of science in Public Administration from the University of Tennessee at Martin in 1993.
In December 1996, he obtained his Juris Doctorate Degree with honors from Drake University Law School in Des Moines, Iowa.
While attending Drake University Young served as a law clerk for the United States Attorney's Office as well as the United States Probation Office.
Young is also a Captain in the Judge Advocate General Corps in the United States Army National Guard, ING (inactive).
Young also serves as municipal attorney for the city of Howardville and is the municipal court judge for the city of Gideon.
Young is also a member of The Missouri Bar Association, American Bar Association, Association of Trial Lawyers of America and the 34th Circuit Bar Association.
Young and his wife Stacey, have one son, two-year-old Gunnar and they reside in rural Portageville.
