Born April 15, 1933, in Malden, son of the late Frank A. and Rilla Long Higgs, he was a U.S. Army veteran and a farmer. He was a member of the Mt. Zion Jericho Baptist Church.
On Aug. 30, 1952, in Piggott, Ark., he married Margie Berry, who survives.
Survivors also include one daughter, Kathy Stevens and husband, Dean, of Malden; one sister, Gladys Lacewell and husband, Carmel. of Gideon, Mo.; two grandchildren, April Dawn Hurtman and Michael Dean Stevens, both of Malden and three great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Austin Hurtman and Damon Stevens, all of Malden.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Javery and Orville Higgs and one infant sister.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Malden with the Rev. Charles Pipkins officiating.
Burial with military rites were in the Memorial Park Cemetery at Malden.
