Arvil "Hoss" Bowie, 89, of Gobler, Mo., died Thursday, Oct. 13, 2005, at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.
Born Aug. 11, 1916, in Enola, Ark., he was the son of the late Charles Ester and Rendy Freeman Bowie.
On March 14, 1942, in Kennett, he married Lawana Pure West, who survives.
Survivors also include three daughters, Sherry Graves, of Gobler, Sandy Gable, of Philadelphia, Penn., and Gay Herrington, of Kennett; two brothers, Charles Ester Bowie Jr., of Jonesboro and Billy Joe Bowie, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, at the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kennett with the Rev. Ed Jansson officiating.
Pallbearers were Mason Cook, Sonny Wimberley, Alton Payne, Jerry Williams, Clem Peters, Jonathan Roberts.
McDaniel Funeral Home of Kennett was in charge of arrangements.
