Dorothy Champion, 78, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2005, at Pemiscot Memorial Health Systems in Hayti, Mo.
Born Nov. 18, 1926, in Pemiscot county, Mo., daughter of the late Leonard McKinley and Ada Smith Murphy, she was a beautician. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, B&PW Club and the Ladies Auxiliary.
On Feb. 10, 1944, in Caruthersville, she married Marvin Newton Champion, who preceded her in death on Aug. 16, 1981.
Survivors include two daughters, Donna Champion Snider and Nancy Champion Sullivan, both of Caruthersville; two sisters, Jean Cottrell, of Blytheville, Ark., and Charlene Powell, of Caruthersville and two grandchildren, Justin and Tyler Sullivan, both of Caruthersville.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at the First Baptist Church in Caruthersville with the Rev. Dr. James Adams officiating.
Burial was in the Maple Cemetery at Caruthersville.
Pallbearers were Billy and Bobby Powell, Greg Russom, Billy Wicker, Noah Downing and Justin Sullivan.
H.S. Smith Funeral Home of Caruthersville was in charge of arrangements.
