Vestia Estell Berry McElvoy, 92, of Malden, Mo., died Sunday, Oct. 16, 2005, at the Gideon Care Center in Gideon, Mo.

Born Jan. 29, 1913, in Frisbee, Mo., daughter of the late James W. and Lucy Davis Stratton, she was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Clarkton, Mo.

On Oct. 5, 1929, she married John Paul Berry, who preceded her in death on June 29, 1977. She later married V. M. McElvoy, on July 16, 1983, who survives.

Survivors also include four sons, Dallas Berry and wife, Frances, of Malden, James Berry and wife, Mavis, of Arnold, Mo., Sherman Berry and wife, Sue, of Dexter, Mo., and Thomas Berry and wife, Debra, of O'Fallon, Mo.; one daughter, Anna Lou Bienhoff and husband, Marlin, of Fairmont, Ill.; three step-sons, Marvin McElvoy, of Springfield, Mo., Eudell McElvoy, of Kansas City, Mo., and Jack McElvoy, of Wappapello, Mo.; one step-daughter, Lucretia Stanley, of Sikeston, Mo.; two sisters, Lou Tabb, of Brosley, Mo., and Beatrice Kilgore, of Safford, Ariz.; four brothers, Fred Stratton, of Brosley and Everett, J.L., and Mynlen Stratton, all of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; 21 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 32 great-great-grandchildren and a host of step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren and step-great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four sons, Richard, Wilburn, Leonard and William Berry and one grandson, Michael Shayne Berry.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. today, Tuesday, Oct. 18, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Malden with the Revs. Roger Wooten and James Bolin officiating.

Burial was in the Memorial Park Cemetery at Malden.
