Jolliff

J.C. "Jay" Jolliff, 82, of Bakersfield, Calif., formerly of Kennett, died Thursday, August 4, 2005.

Born August 15, 1922, in Kennett, he served in the U.S. Army tank corps in the South Pacific during World War II. He relocated to Bakersfield in 1949 and began building houses in 1957. He attended Christ Cathedral and most recently First Assembly of God.

On October 14, 1939, he married Helen Stover who preceded him in death in 2003.

Survivors include two sons, Terry Jolliff and wife, Audrey Eloise, and Richard Jolliff and wife, Vickie; one sister, Scottie Jolliff Earls of Branson, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Katie Cox Jolliff of Kennett; and three grandsons, Christopher, Jeffrey and Joseph

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, August 8, at the Hillcrest Mortuary Chapel at Bakersfield.
