Born April 25, 1924, in Arbyrd, Mo., son of the late William Andrew Sr., and Effie Ellen Hendrixson Lomax, he was a farmer and a U.S. Army veteran, having served in WWII. he was a member of the Arbyrd Baptist Church in Arbyrd, Mo., a member of the Arbyrd and Southland School Boards and a member of the Dunklin County School Board.
On Nov. 5, 1943, in Piggott, Ark., he married Helen Ridings, who survives.
Survivors also include one son, Kenny Lomax, of Jonesboro; one brother, Jim Lomax, of Blytheville, Ark.; five sisters, Orene Perez, of Leachville, Ark., Sydney Wilson, of Holcomb, Mo., Millie Dunahew, of Corcoran, Calif., Oma McWherter, of Piggott and Betty Smith, of Davidson, Mich.; two grandchildren, Kyle and Kendra Lomax, both of Jonesboro and two great-grandchildren, Katie and Kaysen Lomax.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, J.C., Orville and Charles Lomax and three sisters, Myrtle Burke and Thelma and Nellie Lomax.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 4, at the Arbyrd Baptist Church.
Burial was in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Kennett.
Pallbearers were Derek, Justin and Jarrod Elder, Larry Petty, Lyman Zolman and Neal Smith.
Honorary pallbearers were Weldon Huggins, Danny Scott, Jack Parker, Mike Faulkner and Kenneth Sikes.
