Ava Jeanette Wright, 84, of Cape Girardeau, Mo., formerly of Kennett, died Friday, Oct. 7, 2005, at Ratliff Care Center in Cape Girardeau.
Born March 23, 1921, in Piggott, Ark., daughter of the late E.L. and Nancy Pearl Dye Baker, she was a member of the Slicer Church of Christ.
On Oct. 25, 1941, she married McKinley Wright, Jr., who preceded her in death on Nov. 1, 1992. She was also preceded in death by six sisters, Roxie Thompson, Lockie Garner, Lubie Adams, Neoma Bare, Elacy Wright and Lily Hardin.
Survivors include one daughter, Nancy Lester and husband, Doug, of Cape Girardeau; three grandchildren, Lee Lester, of St. Charles, Mo., Lynn Lester, of Cape Girardeau and Lori Johnson, of O'Fallon, Mo., and three great-grandchildren, Alec McKinley and Virginia Caroline Lester and Nolan James Johnson.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 10, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with Spencer Furby and Brain McAlister officiating.
Burial was in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Kennett.
Pallbearers were George Archer, Jim Brotherton, Chester Folkes, Frank Stewart, Leonard Boggs and Henry Deeter.
Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Russ Burcham, Larry Metheny, Dennie Robertson and the Dorcas Group.
