Born Sept. 23, 1935, in Senath, son of the late Robert Monroe Brotherton and Annie Mae Evans, he was a U.S. veteran and a farmer.
On Oct. 11, 1969, in Senath, he married Dorothy McClish, who survives.
Survivors also include one son, Robert Joe Brotherton, of Senath; three daughters, Angela Lewis, of Wappapello, Mo., Loretta Brotherton, of Leachville, Ark., and Marilyn Long, of Senath; one brother, James Alva Brotherton, of Marble Hill, Mo.; two sisters, Sharon Lindsey and Doris Faye George, both of Kennett and 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Everett Earl Brotherton.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett.
Burial was in the McGrew Cemetery at Senath.
