Mary Ellen Horner, 94, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005, at the Caruthersville Nursing Center.

Born May 12, 1911, in Caruthersville, daughter of the late Paul Lynn and Nell Ridgely Horner, she attended Caruthersville High School, received degrees from Missouri University and George Peabody Teachers College and taught at Caruthersville Schools. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Chapter DM of P.E.O., the American Rose Society, Pi Lambda Theta Fraternity, and Retired Teachers Association of Missouri.

Survivors include the Jack Hale Tipton, Jr. and David Madison families.

Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 3, at the Little Prairie Cemetery in Caruthersville with the Revs. Dr. Kirwin Stewart and Dr. Paul Currie officiating.

H.S. Smith Funeral Home of Caruthersville was in charge of arrangements.
