Joseph Oscar Politte, 89, of DeSoto, Mo., died Sunday, Oct. 2, 2005, at Crystal City, Mo.

Born Jan. 14, 1916, in Vineland, Mo., son of the late Joseph John and Mary Louise Coleman Politte, he was a U.S. Army/Air Force veteran and employed at Missouri Pacific Railroad. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus No. 1185 and the Brotherhood Railroad Carman Union.

On June 26, 1943, he married Nelda Rae Dawson, who survives.

Survivors also include two sons, Ron Politte and wife, Cindy and Stephen W. Politte, all of DeSoto; one daughter, Debra Ward and husband, Jerry, of Rives, Mo.; three sisters, Audrey Westhoff, of Bonne Terre, Mo., Louise Recar, of Imperial, Mo., and Marcella Scharf, of DeSoto; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Tuesday, Oct. 4, at the Mahn Funeral Home in DeSoto.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church with Father Ron Hopmeir officiating.

Burial will follow at the Calvary Cemetery in DeSoto.
