With that being said, a 25 year old man by the name of Jamie Grisham will look you in the eye and tell you that, "in order to be different we have to move in God a little different." We must change.
Great change has come for the Abiding Peace Temple in Kennett and those who attend the church will be a part of a new season.
After preaching a powerful message during a glory filled Sunday morning service that brought the people to their feet and literally caused the congregation to turn around, Jamie Grisham was chosen by the church to represent them as pastor.
A definite truth rests inside of Grisham, who has suffered many trials and tribulations of his own.
"I praise God for my personal transitions," said a teary eyed Grisham.
Pausing for a moment in his complete sincerity he then continued by describing himself as a once rebellious teenager who has experienced many convictions while traveling the road of self-destruction.
Now married to wife, Jill, and the father of two beautiful girls, Abby and Kaley, he is experiencing God in a much more positive light which radiates from within him when he speaks.
"Jill and the girls are a blessing to me a vital part in my life," he said.
"Whenever I have felt the realization of imperfection or wanted to give up, my wife has always been there."
Grisham described his first visit to Abiding Peace and said that when he entered the doors he was assured within his soul that he would never leave and that the feelings he had were real, a love and peace within his soul.
"When I was saved, I was saved," said Grisham.
Since then he has been doing the work of God and seriously applying his faith.
"I believe in the faith of God, it took faith to place me here as pastor," he said.
Carolyn Caraway, the assistant pastor and church secretary for Abiding Peace, said she and others truly believes that Grisham was called by God to lead the church.
Grisham is on a personal mission to make it known that it is time to step out of religion as we've known it and see for ourselves who Jesus really is and what he can do for your life.
He is welcoming all to come and experience the changes inside and out of the church and challenging other churches to join together becoming involved in the ministry of God as one and pray against religious separation.
"Abiding Peace is an unbiased, cultural, and non discriminative church and I have received a prophecy that this church will be the main lighthouse for this community and that we are going to take it back from the drugs, crime, and violence that exists," Grisham said.
According to the faith led pastor, the people are about to take part in a "Joshua Generation" in which the Bible tells of Joshua leading people around the city seven times. Grisham plans to do the same within the city of Kennett and has already walked it once with members of the congregation and community and will follow six additional times so that by his goal of next year the people shall walk in their inheritance.
"People need to experience the joy of walking with God," added Caraway.
The church is about to experience a fresh move of the holy ghost, inspired by God and motivated by the self-proclaimed "best worship service in Southeast Missouri," said Grisham.
"When you walk into the doors there is a ministry for every age including an awesome youth group," he said.
Grisham said that the 125 attending guests and members are beyond the hungry part and are starved for God and concluded with his favorite scripture, "If God be for us, who can be against us."
