Vernon P. Griffin, 91, of Kennett, died Saturday, Sept. 24, 2005, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Born June 26, 1914, in Dunklin County, Mo., son of the late George Benjamin Franklin and Sarah Hattie Jenette Williams Griffin, he was employed at Emerson Electric.
On Sept. 23, 1929, in Cardwell, Mo., he married JoNell Lawson, who survives.
Survivors also include one son, Vernon Joe Griffin and wife, Kay, of Springdale, Ark.; two daughters, Joyce Langston and husband, Kenneth and Judith Ann Williams, all of Kennett; eight grandchildren, Leah Griffin, Rebecca Murry, Deborah and Timothy Langston, Sarah Kaiser, Cinda Bryant and Roger and Stephen Williams and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Gean, Earnest, Clyde and Donald Griffin and one sister, Ruby Gilliam.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 26, at the Christ Gospel Church in Kennett with Tommy Swift, Roger Williams and Stephen Williams officiating.
Burial was in the Cardwell Cemetery.
Pallbearers were R.B. Thomas, Walter Hourd, Jimmie Moody, Billy Don Branum, James Lowry and Brandon Smith.
Honorary pallbearers were Johnny Liles, John Angel, Vernon Davidson, Joe Brumley, Johnny Wyrick and Ralph Wells.

McDaniel Funeral Home of Kennett was in charge of arrangements.
