Sue Emma Gillis, 96, of Hayti, Mo., died Monday, Sept. 19, 2005, at Pemiscot Memorial Hospital in Hayti.
Born Aug. 22, 1909, at Blytheville, Ark., daughter of the late Prentis R. and Mary Jane Peery Gillis, she was a graduate of Hayti High School, a school teacher and worked at Brown Shoe Company. She was a member of Caruthersville First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her cousins, Agnes Price and Debra Fryer, both of Beton Harbor, Mich., Mary Lott, of Blytheville, Buddy Ray, of Imboden, Ark., Carl Ray, of Pine Bluff, Ark., Nancy Plunkett, of Bono, Ark., Elmer Ray, of Marion, Ark., Albert Ray, of Bryant, Ark., Robert Ray, of Caruthersville, Mo., Steve Ray, of Cordova, Tenn., Margie Kearby, of Dell, Ark., Danny Hatchell, of Atlanta, Ga., Billy Hatchell, of Steele, Mo., Peggy Moore, of Huffman, Ark., and Dennis Price, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and best friend, Frankie Gaines, of Portageville, Mo.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 22, at the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel in Hayti, Mo., with Dr. James Adams officiating.
Burial was in the Little Prairie Cemetery at Caruthersville.
Pallbearers were Fred Boyd, John Sellers, W.T. Davidson Jr., James Woods, Martin Ray and Bobby Irions.
